Hurricane and Severe Weather Design

In recent years, extensive hurricane damage from the Atlantic Coast to the Gulf Coast and beyond has created major code changes for mid-rise and high-rise structures in order to create building exteriors that are more weatherproof and more impact resistant. Hurricane prone regions now extend from the New England States around the Florida Peninsula and stretch as far west as southern Texas.

Hurricane resistant design codes and requirements may be new to individual architects and builders, but IBA Consultants has more than a decade of experience with hurricane design. In addition, members of our senior staff have been instrumental in the writing and development of these codes.

IBA is the acknowledged expert in hurricane resistant design and construction for new and existing building projects, including establishing design pressures, identifying products and alternative protective devices, determining code requirements, preparing test protocols, and acquiring NOA/product approvals.
